Illinois 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hello! I paid the $500 deposit and received a confirmation email a few days ago. Is there anything else to do to confirm my seat? I am feeling nervous that somehow it didn't go through haha, and there seems to be no other way to confirm that I accepted my seat. Thanks!!
Yes! You do need to turn in your transcripts. I believe there should be a checklisted attached to the acceptance letter that should have everything you need. I think i still have it if you can't find it! If you are ever in doubt, you can always email, I also was paranoid and emailed to confirm and they were super nice!

I posted on the facebook page as well, but I’m looking for somewhere to live next year if anyone knows of a place. I would love to live in historic urbana with other girls, so feel free to message me!

Messaged you!

Hi everyone my name is Kaila and I am from the class of 2028. I just wanted to jump in here as I’m looking for 1-2 roommates to share a spacious 4-bed, 3-bath house. Rent will be $505 to $675 per month, depending on how many people we have, plus utilities.

The house has a fenced-in yard, and tons of space. My current roommate and I both have pets, so if you have any, let me know so we can make sure they'll get along! There is no pet limit or fee. The landlord covers lawn care and trash/recycling, so no cost there.
It’s a great spot, just a 4-minute drive from Vet Med. Move in would be around July first.

If you're interested, feel free to reach out for more details! 😊

Old listing if you wanted to peak but some rooms have changed!

I want to congratulate all of you on making it this far, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions (housing related or not!) 🧡💙
Hi! I was wondering if you found roommates already or if you were still looking! Would love to talk more, feel free to message me!

Hi Illinois Class of 2029! My name is Kit Clayburn. I am the class president of 2028, and will be acting as your interim class representative. I am one of the three elected positions that will be helping you through your transition into vet school! I wanted to let you all know that we will give you the link to the Unofficial Facebook group during the week of April 21st. We have our midterm exams the week of decision day, so we are going to be studying hard during that time.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please let me know or ask in this group. Current students are always available for questions! The Facebook group will have a lot of resources on it as well!

I also wanted to note that it is the “unofficial” Facebook group because it is run by students and does not have anything to do with the administration at Illinois!
Hey! Where should we be on the lookout for this facebook group? Will you be posting it here?

Hey guys! I am currently looking for one more roommate! The house is a 3 bed 2 bath. Rent is $650/month and that price is locked in for the next 4 years (cannot go up). The house has designated street parking right in front of the house that would be just for the new roommate. It also has a large fenced in backyard, in unit laundry, is pet friendly, an 8 min drive to the vet school, in a great safe neighborhood, and owned by a friendly and attentive private landlord. The house also has a semi unfinished basement for storage and we have plans to create a home gym down there! Id love to share photos/videos of the house with anyone interested as well as a little bit more about myself and the other roommate! Feel free to message me on here or text me at 214-909-9022.

Hi Illinois Class of 2029! The unofficial Facebook group has opened! I will provide the link here. You should also be getting an email sometime this week with the link.

Has anyone heard anything about when the OOS waitlist might start moving, or has it already? I'm anxious now since the April 15th deadline has passed and I still haven't heard anything 😬

They start pulling people after the deadline, so you could hear at any point between now and the start of classes. I'm not sure how much the waitlist moves each year, so unfortunately it's just more waiting. Best of luck!

Does anyone know if we're supposed to receive an official letter of acceptance? I'm trying to get graduate housing and they're saying I need to send them that letter to confirm that I'm actually going to the University.

I believe I got one in the mail, but it was more or less the same as the email we received.

My snail mail letter literally said in the opening line "congratulations, you have been accepted to the university of Illinois veterinary medicine class of 2020". If that doesn't count, I can't think of what would.

I would give them a call and ask specifically what they're looking for.

Side note: I only knew two people who lived in the graduate housing on campus and they did not like it at all. Just as an fyi

I agree. I don't see how the email or letter wouldn't count. That's really annoying

Maybe email the school/ASA then? It seems weird that the housing people can't just look you up on their end, especially if you already have a school login and whatnot. If that hasn't been set up yet, maybe that's the problem?

I already set up the netid thing and have my own UID. I'm gonna contact ASA and see if that whole letter of acceptance is really necessary. Hopefully it'll work out.

Last year, they started to pull people from the waitlist like right after April 15. But I still haven’t heard anything as of today. Will they send an email or something if the seats are all filled

They do send an email once the class is filled.

Can anyone clarify if we still need to send in our transcripts if we didn’t have any pending coursework? My transcripts on VMCAS were up to date as I graduated several years ago, and the wording in their emails are a little vague so I just wanted to check if anyone knew for sure

I think you have to send your transcripts even if you graduated. Look at the original email from when they sent acceptances. The requirements for matriculation, as I took it, we have to send our transcripts even if we did not earn a degree in spring 2025 or if we earned one in earlier semesters. Vmcas does not forward the transcripts they received when we apply. Double check with admissions though just to be safe.

Okay, thank you! I got confused because of this blurb from the email on 4/21, but I will probably just send them in anyways to be safe:

Final, official transcripts will be due by June 1, 2025. In order to be considered official, they must be sent directly from your institution. These transcripts are required to be fully matriculated into our program. If you have no pending coursework, including completion of a bachelor’s degree, then you do not need to send in any further transcripts. If you have ANY pending courses or you are pending a degree completion, we will need your final transcripts, which should reflect completion of all prerequisites and/or degree.”

Hi! I hope everyone is doing well - those that were accepted, congrats!!

I was waitlisted and have been struggling with the possibilities of either outcome from the situation (renewing my lease versus not renewing - a bit more complicated than that but for the sake of the question, thats the basis), so was hoping to get some advice or feedback. As we all know, there are no identified waitlist positions available, so those of us on the waitlist aren't sure where exactly we stand. I'm trying to determine which paths I have available to me in the next few months and feel like I lack a lot of information about the actual waitlist. Would it look bad on my waitlist position or even get a response if I emailed UIUC and asked about how many seats of the waitlist are left or if there is a projected close date? Obviously that doesn't tell me where exactly I am, but having some idea of if the waitlist is now at 8 people versus still in the tens or would give a rough date estimate would make me feel more comfortable in making the tough decision of whether I could even commit if they called me late July/early August. I guess I'm just hoping for some feedback on sending an email or any advice on this issue. Thanks all!

They won't give any sort of definitive information. They'll simply tell you that an email will go out to those on the wait list when the class is filled. Schools will never give any sort of information like this because of the risk of blow back if they say one thing and then something else happens. Can't get sued if you don't make promises.

I *****always***** tell students to assume theyre rejected until they have an acceptance letter, and therefore live your life as such. If you would reapply, keep working as if you will reapply. So since you don't have an acceptance, plan as such. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

I got confused too. I sent them just in case I’m wrong 😂

Did you send them transcripts directly before interviews? If you did, that’s likely where they’re saying you don’t need to send them again if you didn’t take any classes in spring 2025 or graduate with a degree then.
