I just got back this morning from my optical mission in Chile. What a fantastic Experience. I will be sending my film out tonight, so Hopefully in the next couple of days I will get a summary of the experience and a few pictures up. It certainly was a life changing experience in many ways.
For the record, we helped over 21,000 people in nine clinic days. Had a team of 5 optoms, 1 optom student, an ophthomologist, and 17 other opticians and techs.
At our closing ceremonies, the OMD honored the team of ODs as being amongst the best eye professionals he had ever seen. He stayed a couple of extra days in our first city to do some surgical procedures and was impressed with how well our doctors were able to accurately asses the severity of the disease, and how much easier it made things for him.
anyway..I am tired (24 hours of flight time will do that to you) and plan on taking a nap
