I am an IMG, currently in final year of med school. Am interested in a residency in general surgery - categorical in a University program.
1) What kind of scores on USMLEs would be required. Would high USMLE scores be sufficient or are other things like research and US clinical experience a must (If a must then minimum clinical experience of how many months with minimum how many letters of recommendation)?
2) Another thing, would it be wise to drop a year, go to US, do 5 months of electives (i already have done 1 before), thus improvong my CV and then apply for 2007 match instead of 2006?
or should i finish my graduation, give USMLEs now, and then apply with my 1 month clinical experience
