I dont mean to start a flame war and target my post at any individuals. But it'd be interesting to know what you folks in US medical schools think of your Caribbean colleagues. Lets disregard the fact that there'll always be docs. or med. students who have judgmental attitudes towards others because of differences, but lets talk about in terms of education, skills, working habits, trust, liability...among those of whom graduated from Caribbean schools.

Sorry in advance if this had offended anyone 🙁

I think it's extremely variable honestly. So I wouldn't judge one until I worked with him. I probably wouldn't go to one as a doc out of my insurance directory, though, unless I knew them or got a good recommendation. Just that variability factor. (though i don't usually pick out of the directory at random anyway, so this doesn't matter as much as it sounds).

Well my primary care doc went to med school in Argentina and is Board Certified Cardiologist in the US so I have no prob with IMGs.

-They can't work in Texas (I'm a Texas resident)
-The GPA doesn't matter for admissions
-Some schools don't even require an MCAT

As long as they're good at their job, I'm totally fine with them.

who says they can't work in texas?

I believe they give IMGs visas to work along to border because non of us texans will. And I think they also try to get people working there by promising to pay off part of our school debts.

As for the rest.... 😱

Texas is a **** hole who wants to live there
-In Canada you could have a 3.5 gpa and not get in which is the case for lots of us. Chances of getting in are like 1/7 compared to 1/2 in the States. And Going to Caribbean is better then getting a DO in the states, which is equivalent to getting a ND=Naturopathic Doctor in Canada

-4 Schools in Canada don't require the MCAT, lots in the States dont require them either

Point of this ****: In the end if you do a good job who cares what school you went too. By the way im not an IMG but your comments were stupid

Living on the border is as good as living in Mexico....

Well, since some of you can't seem to discuss these things without opening your trousers, this thread is closed. To the OP: if you're serious about asking this question and not starting a flame war, try looking in the international subforums, or do a search.
