IMGs with foreign degrees who want Permanent Residence in Australia

Hi... I have just completed my MBBS course from the university of Mauritius. I have heard that passing the AMC exams and getting an internship in an Australian hospital is very difficult nowadays. Does anyone have an idea about an alternative course related to medicine that I can pursue in an Australian University with the prospect of getting a Permanent Residence over there plz? I heard that a Master's in biomedical engineering may be an option... Anyone with an advice plz???
