Hi everyone. I just have a quick question regarding the importance of a journal's (that you were published on) impact factor in med school admissions. I know that a 10, like hepatology, would be weighed more than a 2, like academic emergency medicine, but does anyone know if this is a big difference when medical schools look at it? From a research standpoint, it's pretty big but i'm curious what medical schools may think about this difference.

They care very little, if at all, about the journal's impact factor. As long as it's not a campus journal, the impact is pretty much the same. You will get a slight boost if you are published in Nature or Science, but other than that, the difference is negligible.

ah, i see. thanks for the informative reply! 🙂

Another Hepato-maniac? How was Boston? Hepatology is good but GE is a little better. SHS' factory gonna come out with any more good NOS reviews? I'm just jostlin' ya.

Since something like <5% of med school applicants have any authorship, you are prolly straight. I would recommend increasing transaminase ratios and getting that LDH up. Just watch out for the steatosis, defenestration, HSC activation, and neutrophils! Approbate.
