Hi all,

I hope you are all enjoying your interviews and the Holiday Season/New Year celebrations. Recently received by step 2 ck scores and found that they were better (and more competetive-- greater than 230) than my step 1 and was wondering how much they might help me to get interviews (I am still waiting to hear from 5 programs). Also, do you think that this might help me get interviews at this stage? Also, does it help when ranking time comes? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

yes it will help in rank time, as you have completed a requirement and have shown improvement...at this stage I dont know how it will help with interviews, but I would send them in, and see...can't hurt...but if you need those interviews, make sure you call or email the PD and have them know your score...good luck

you might get more insight about your question by asking the flip side question: how much it hurts an application if the applicant's step2ck score is lower than the step 1.

Alot probably depends on the program itself and what they value more: the numbers or other personal qualities. The timing of when they get the scores probably also plays a role.

At least for our program, we'd rather see a higher Step 2 score. If your Step 1 score is <200, it definitely helps your application to see a much higher Step 2 score. There are folks we wouldn't have otherwise interviewed [Step 1 of 190-200] that we invited because they had a Step 2 of 230 or more.
