Important extra curriculars for RadOnc residency

I just finished MS2 and I'll be starting in the lab for my PhD shortly. My grades in the first two years are good (honored a few, probably 1st quartile) and I have a 258 step 1. So in the grades aspect I feel I am doing fine, however the reputation of my medical school is nothing to brag about.

Aside from being a decent researcher and hopefully finishing my PhD in 3 years, what other projects/activities can I get involved with that generally are important on residency applications?

Any input will greatly be appreciated!
