Some med schools are having problems when sending out emails to large groups of applicants. Apparently junk mail filters, often used by yahoo, hotmail... tag these messages as junk and divert them from inboxes. As a result, many applicants fail to receive important info regarding app status. For the real surprise, it's the AMCAS database software that enables the schools to send email to large groups at one time. The bottom line: if you haven't heard from a school, check your junk mail!

If you can't receive these emails, how do you check for them?

usually these commercial services have a "junk mail" folder, just like they have "inbox" and "sent mail" folders. Depending on how often yahoo or whatever empties the junk mail folder, you may or may not still have these emails.

Just turn off the filters and deal with spam, 17 unsoliciated e-mails a day won't break your heart but missing an interview or acceptance because you didn't receive a crucial e-mail will. And besides, you may have already won 17 million dollars. (yeah, its a joke, its lame) Peace. AEKDB
