Just took the DAT, AA was an 18, PAT 21. QR score was a 14 though. How much is this gonna hurt me?
Also, what do the percentile scores that accompany your standard scores mean? Are they the percentages of scores from the past year? month? day? of all time?

I would hope not (AA:20 TS:21 PAT:19). Your PAT is great, but what about your TS? What were the percentages of your scores? I got a 14 in QR too and am nervous about my chances at some schools....I guess you just have to apply smart.

I had a 19Bio, 18Chem 20Ochem, 20PAT 18 RC and a 14QR last year

got rejected from all.. i think if you could, you should take it again .. I dun think schools like any sections lower than a 17.. but again there are always the few exceptions who get accepted w/ luck.. but don think you wanna take the chance to be the few exception out of the couple thousands who are applying.. good luck!

I've heard of students (some with Engineering as their major) got into dental schools with a 13 in QR. But these students had their AA and TS in the 20's though.:luck:

those scores arent TERRIBLE.. how did u get rejected from all? did u have a low gpa? what schools did u apply to?

Here's the thing. There's all this talk about how QR score isn't important. Although that may be true, but there's only so low you can go. After a certain point, you're gonna start raising some red flags. Besides, the admission committees are only willing to overlook your QR score, if you have killed all the other sections of the exam and you have an amazing GPA. Your AA is 18, which is very average. So, personally, I think that QR score of 14 will hurt you.
I think retaking the exam would be a smart idea to improve both your AA and your QR.

what did you do to prepare for the dat? was the math section just brutally hard, or did you not spend too much time studying for it?

I second NZE...sucks but I think it would be wise, simply to avoid the red flag being laid out there....hmm...qr sure does seem to be messin up lots of people lately! best of luck though!

The problem is people get used to calculators during high school and college and they become dependent on it and struggle on doing it manually. IMO 14 is way to low with an average AA, unless your GPA and EC is superb I'd retake.

14 QR will be considered bad with 18 AA. But then we are not adcomm you never know. it ll be wise to contact schools...not few but many.
