Hi Everyone.. I'm looking for a bit of guidance and thought this might be the best place to go. I'm training in America to become a podiatrist but I have always had it in the back of my mind to move back to Ireland, where I'm originally from. The problem I'm having is that podiatry in Ireland is very different than it is here in America in terms of training and scope of the profession. In the States, podiatrist go through 4 years of training followed by three years of residency and then qualify as podiatric surgeons. Although I have found a few podiatrists in Ireland who have gone on to specialize as podiatric surgeons, it seems like this is a very uncommon thing to do. Have any of you worked in a hospital where there are podiatric surgeons? Anyone have insight into how I could go about practicing as a podiatric surgeon in Ireland if I did move back? Thanks in advance!!
