Dermatology Research and Education Foundation™ seeks 5 medical student dermatology research volunteers for 12 months beginning in July 2025 under the direction of Jashin J. Wu, M.D.
Two in-person research students will have opportunity to work with Dr. Wu in clinic in Corona, CA. They will function as medical assistants (MAs) and research coordinators. In addition, they will have the opportunity to work on at least 4 papers as first author/20 papers as any author for retrospective cohort studies, review articles, and case reports.
Three virtual research students will assist Dr. Wu on the San Diego Dermatology Symposium and the Dermatology Innovation Symposium for educational grant submissions and marketing. In addition, they will have the opportunity to work on at least 4 papers as first author/20 papers as any author for retrospective cohort studies, review articles, and case reports.
Two prior physician research fellows and 27 prior research students have matched into dermatology residency, 4 prior research students are currently in the application process, and 5 research students are currently in the research fellowship.
Only students who will have completed the 3rd year of medical school by the start of the research position and will be taking a gap year are being considered at this time. Students who wish to do research while concurrently completing medical school coursework will not be considered. Unfortunately, IMGs are not eligible.

Medical school/family near Corona, CA, is a plus for the in-person position. Prior experience in statistics and/or in programming is a major plus and should be noted in the application!
