Hello all,

I have received an II in the NYC area for September, and I am a bit confused by the conflicting advice on the internet regarding In the Area emails/calls.

I go to school about 5 hours from NYC, and the train is expensive. I know that this is nothing compared to students who have to fly, however. Would an ITA email be warranted?

Additionally, is it ever appropriate to let schools know where you will be interviewing? I ask because I will be interviewing at top 20 but have not heard from any other top NYC schools yet. I understand that one must never be presumptuous in this communication, but it might provide the schools with information in my favor.

Finally, I have heard that sending ITA emails can improve your chances of getting an II earlier on in the cycle. Is this true?

Thank you for your input, and good luck to everyone applying!
