Independent study or Cell biology of disease?

I was recently invited to work in a research lab, which is great because I have never done research before and I now have the opportunity to get published.

On the other hand, if I do decide to do the independent study for 3 credits, I have to drop my other class: cell biology of disease. I haven't taken many science classes, so this might hurt me.

Which one do you guys think looks "better" for adcoms? Or does it even matter??
