Steiner,
By no means do I expect to change your mind. But about the interview day, it just seemed like a very nonprofessional and nonfriendly atmosphere there. They had no formal school introduction, financial aid presentation, or applicant-current student interaction as most other schools I've been to has. I just didn't get the feeling they were very caring about the students. It may have just been my day so it would be interesting to hear how your interview day went.
I am from Mississippi so I would be out of state and paying just as much as I would at NOVA or UK. That's why I am deliberating as of now. I have yet to hear after my Columbia interview and am going to Penn this week, so if I get into one of those two then this whole discussion would not be an issue. I just felt a more student oriented atmosphere at UK and NOVA, but IU's reputation and board scores is what is keeping it in the running. There is no question about the quality of education and clinical experience I would get there, just the quality of life, which I feel is equally important.
I hope you can tell me that I was just there at a bad day and you've heard good things from current students. I'm also iffy about the whole PBL thing even though they supposedly bring back awesome boards. Let me know if you have any added input. Thanks for responding and having this discussion. It helps to get my feelings heard!! Have a good one.
