Info about EMT jobs/paramedic training programs in Miami

I am thinking about deferring a year from medical school to go to Miami (for personal reasons) and work as an EMT for an ambulance company there. If that dosnt work out, I am also interested in taking training programs to be certified as a paramedic there. I was EMT certified in California, but the certification expired a year ago and I will need to request recertification from state of Florida.

Anyway, I figure this might be a good forum to ask since some of you may have worked as EMT (maybe even in Miami) prior to applying to med school.

If anybody has information regarding employment as an EMT or paramedic training programs in Miami, I'd appreciate it if you can share. Thanks.

I don't know much about what you are looking for. However, a friend of mine became a certified EMT in Miami and he went to Miami-Dade (the community college ..oh sorry...it's a college now) to get his certification. Give them a call. Since you have already had training it will probably be easy and I am sure that there are plenty of positions open for you. Good luck.
