Last friday i was accepted into NOVA and i am currently taking a course simply for insurance purposes, because i was accepted does that qualify me as a full time student and keep me safe under my parents insurance? I would love to drop this course soon and get the 800 bucks back. I would appreciate any help possible if anyone has been in a similar situation.

You'll have to check your parents insurance policy. Usually you have to be classified as a full-time student. Taking only one course probably doesn't satisfy that requirement.

Yup, most insurances require you to be a full time student. I would definitely check with your parents' insurance, just so you don't get dropped. Congrats on the invite!!:)

i should clarify what i meant, what i meant was that because full time student is qualified by year, my summer courses combined with one this fall made me full time, i was just wondering if my acceptance into a medical program alone would qualify me for insurance purposes

thanks for the congrats!!!

i doubt it. when i used my parents' insurance i had to provide them with a letter from my university's registrar stating that i am a full time student there and the year. congrats on your acceptance, but i don't think you will be considered a full time student until you matriculate.

best bet is too call the insurance company and find out.

also keep in mind that u can't always be kept safe under parent's insurance even if your full time...their may be an age limit.. for me, i can only be covered by my parents until the age of 24 (even if a full time student)
