I was interviewed at NECO but haven't heard back from them so I am assuming I am not in.
Have you called the admissions office at NECO and asked them what your current status is??? Dont assume the worst, think positive!

definitely CALL NECO! NECO is sometimes slow, esp. now that they are getting a massive influx of applications. call them and ask about your status. irene is normally really nice over the phone and extremely helpful. i would be VERY surprised if you didn't get in after an interview with your stats and extracurriculars. 🙂

don't worry so much. i have complete faith in you that you will be accepted. as i said before, NECO would be lucky to have you as an OD student. you seem very passionate about optometry! 🙂

Passing rate of IAUPR:15-20% Seriously reconsider.

Im a recent graduate of IAUPR, Im passed all the boards w/o any problem also my classmates and now are working in the US, as matter of fact all of them are in great demand because the need of bilingual optometrists. So, consider the UIAPR as a good alternative to study optometry.

LOL dude where did you get those ridiculous stats?
I just read that they were REACCREDITED until 2013. I dont think any respectable body would accredit any institution with stats like that, under any circumstance.
I have read many threads about this particular school and for some reason I canot fathom people just insist on presenting this school on a negative light, with complete ridiculous and false stats. I still dont understand why so much hate towards this particular school.
If anything, I have seen that students that attend the school are for the most part are fiercely loyal to and proud of their school. Again, I dont understand why students insist on badmouthing this school with obviously false stats. Just do a search on the school and find out.
BTW, I am NOT a student there, so please dont accuse me of any bias.

yes, this does seem rather low. care to share where this info was uncovered? 🙂

Yea I would like to know that too.

I graduated from there in '03. I had no problem passing board nor did the majorty of my classmates. Sure there were those that didn't study well and didn't pass, but I imagine that happens just about everywhere to an extent. I had a great time at IAUPR. I did a residency and got a great job with an OD/MD group practice and have just published two papers in Optometric Management. If I had it to do over again, I'd only apply to IAUPR.

I believe that most of the negative posts about this school have to do with ignorance and the belief that because it is a school located in Puerto Rico, it is somehow inferior to mainland schools. That mixed with a bit of racism is responsible, in my opinion, for some of the rubbish some people write. I am surprised at some of the blatant lies that people make up about this school, for no other reason than to have some bad to say about the school. I am even more surprised that some people believe it.
