1) Has anyone used interfolio for documents other than LOR, e.g. transcripts? If you went to several schools and are applying broadly (AMCAS/TMDSAS/AACOMAS) wouldn't this be a less expensive route? Does anyone know if transcripts from school via interfolio are accepted?

2) Other than the college committee letter, say you want to get additional letters (from a doctor, other profs) would you still use your college service? Interfolio is $15 + $5/school so it'll probably get expensive.

I used Interfolio for my letters and I was very happy with the service and very pleased that I went with the Interfolio service.

To me, the positive points were: 1) I only had to ask my LOR writers to send one copy of the letter to Interfolio - some of my profs hadn't heard about Interfolio but are now 100% "sold" on it, 2) I added additional schools mid-way through the application process - I didn't have to go back to my letter-writers to ask them to send additional copies (which was a nightmare for some of my friends), 3) I sent my letters electronically to a couple of schools who accept electronic transmission from Interfolio - for the others, I could send my letters regular mail, priority mail, or overnight - depending on when I needed the letters to arrive (delivery on Interfolio ranges from $3.50 per set electronically to around $9 for priority mail - and up to $25 for overnight delivery - but that's for your entire "packet" of letters that you select - not per letter - I really thought the cost was insignificant compared to everything else), 4) My letters will stay on-file indefinitely for a small annual storage fee.

You can send anything you like to Interfolio, including transcripts - some people use Interfolio to store professional credentials for traveling or locum tenens work. I don't know if a medical school would accept a transcript from Interfolio - I haven't seen the issue come up.

Hope this helps.

For the AMCAS schools, you only need to send 1 transcript- to AMCAS, so it's not like you have to send transcripts from your school to a million places (I can't speak for the TX and DO services though). Interfolio was FABULOUS for my LORs and I highly recommend it for them, but it's probably easier to send the transcript directly to AMCAS.

Could someone explain the letter service at school? Are they typically associated with the pre-med advising office?

So in addition to the committee letter, would they also hold/send other LOR's (from doctor's you have shadowed and such)?
