Intermediate/Lettered at SUNY Buffalo....huh?

I received an email from SUNY Buffalo saying that I'm intermediate, I personally think I'm more mediocre than intermediate. 🙄 What does that mean? I didn't find the e-mail helpful. Does this mean that I'm on a "Pre-interview hold?"
