Hi All,
Currently an OMS1 wondering about hospitals that have both internal med residencies and hem/onc fellowships. I'm interested in knowing all of them but extra points for those located in New York or Michigan. Also, is gaining acceptance to a fellowship mostly dependent on your performance during residency and USMLE/COMLEX2 or is your med school performance and USMLE/COMLEX1 also highly important? Thanks for your time guys. I appreciate any input.

Google + Freida.

You'll have to wait until you're a resident before you can start asking people to do your scut work for you. 😉

Why does a dentist want to know about Heme/Onc fellowships?

I think OMS = osteopathic medical student (instead of OMFS = oralmaxillofacial surgery).

Ah, I see.

Why the "OMS" at all, instead of just "MS"?

Do I have start referring to my students as "AMS" (Allopathic Medical Students)?

Am I an "ACOSISTBGMO" (Allopathic Categorical Orthopaedic Surgery Intern Soon-To-Be General Medical Officer)?

Indiana University (medical center located in Indianapolis) has an excellent fellowship in hem/onc (and, of course, an internal medicine residency program). Indiana is just south of Michigan - do I get partial points?

You honestly won't find that many (if any?) places that have a hem/onc fellowship but no internal medicine residency. No idea what the breakdown between med school and residency performance is, although I would guess residency performance is weighted heavier. Traditionally, hem/onc has not been one of the very competitive IM subspecialties (e.g. cards or GI). That's all word of mouth, though - I am not a hem/onc fellow. Best of luck.
