hi everyone,

my credentials are step 1 215, step 2 236, cs passed certified. US experience as a couple of observerships and US citizenship. YOG: 2011 and an IMG.

I want to do my residency in the NYC area now with my creds and IMG status most top notch schools like cloumbia, nyu etc are a far fetched dream, so what programs in nyc do you think, I will be a competitive applicant without ending up in a completely dead beat program. And yes I would like to pursue a fellowship in the future?

So what are my options,
Thank you

few, if any, posters have experience with IMG matching so our advice might not be the best.

have u failed to match in the past? your chances are likely very poor and you can't limit yourself to just NYC programs. obviously you have no chance at any of the academic medical centers (except maybe downstate) so don't even bother wasting your time applying. Apply to all the community programs in NYC but you'll also need to apply to noncompetitive programs in much less desirable locations (think midwest). From what I understand a typical IMG puts out 100-200 applications to get a small handful of interviews and in your case you'll likely have to do the same (or more) given your below-average scores and being 2 years out of school.

I do understand that, I did apply last year without my CS result actually even without CK for a while but managed to get 3 iv but didn't match one was a university program. I will apply extensively let's see how it goes!!
