International opportunities as a medical student

I was wondering if anynody knew of any good opportunities for medical students to go abroad during medical school. My school doesnt really have an established department in international health. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you clarify what you mean by going abroad? Are you looking for a formal internship? or just to help outside the U.S. in an informal way?

There are dozens of organizations that offer informal opportunities. Many are members of the International Medical Volunteer Association and International Volunteer Program Association .

The American Medical Student Association has international links via its
International Health Action Group of the AMSA .
