international orthodontist working in chicago

hi
I'm am international dentist who is currently under US orthodontic residency program. i will be graduating in 2019.
I do not have DDS.
So far, it seems like Illinois state did not require DDS but heard from people that they actually shut down for international dentist without DDS from licensure this year.
I was wondering if this is true. I could not find any specific information on their board site.

Any information would be helpful.
