Hi
I was wondering if any of you could guide me about what kind of loans i should be looking for as an internation student for DMD 😕 (i.e on an F1 visa )
Could some who is researching/has researched this, post the information they have recieved so far.....????
Thank you

You will be relying exlusively on private banks loans, with the help of a co-signer who has a good credit history in the US, that will help guarantee a decent interest rate and enough balance to cover the cost of attendance. The school usually provides a list of preferred lenders, but you are pretty much on your own where you can apply to any bank you know that provides educational loans.

is it really necessary to get a co-signer. if i don't have any relative in US and i don't have green card personally, it seemed to me a huge huge favor to ask a friend as co-signer. i remember some previous thread mentioned some kind of private loan doesn't need a co-signer if you have good credit history and maybe the APR is a little bit higher, etc, but i don't know if it is true or not. anybody any idea?

It's not always necessary, but having a credit-worthy co-signer as I said helps to get better rates, and more money. You mentioned you have a good credit history, is't in the US ? Have you had loans or credit in tis country before ?

yes, i have six years credit history (including car loands already paid off) in US. will it be enough?

Oh I think 6 years of good credit is more than enough.

thanks a lot, kilani. it is good to know.

You mentioned you don't have a green card, and you've been here for 6 years, may I ask what was your status during this period of time ? Visitor or student visa ?

Hello there, if you dont have a Cosigner and a green card , but if you have a 6 yrs credit history , you can get a loan from Access group on your own history. Try it . www.accessgroup.com / .org

Best of luck

Kilani, to your question:

F1 visa first then H1 after graduate.

Mask,
thanks for the info, i will check it out

Hi net
I was just curious about the your privious study in US major. and if you have any Idea tell me more about the H1 opportunities after graduation with DMD or you previous degree (I mean the degree you got with your last F1 visa)
I think we are in the same boat.
I appreciate your help

it really depends on your major and the job market. the h1b under cap is not that easy to apply as several years ago. but if you could find a job at acdemia, you don't need to worry about it cuz the h1b there is not regulated under cap.
my current job is not related to dental at all, and the job hunting was not hard either. but it was several years ago and as i said it has nothing to do with dental. i even don't know if it is gonna help me to apply dental school or not. but what else can i do? this seems to be the only choice i can take right now. let me know what else i can help

Hi,
I explored the website of accessgroup and feel it dose help a lot. Maybe its interest is higher, but to some people like me, to get such loan is the best way to raise enough money coz we really do not have any resource for such huge tuition and feel so frown at finding a cosigner from green-card holders, even some friends.
I just want to know whether there have been some people whose got the loan from it, WITHOUT co-signers?
If some, I will feel much better.

Is it true, that it's not improtant if your Co-Singer, already have another loan ( like mortage loan). I mean it will not affect your chance of getting a private loan. Or it would with that Co-Singer.???????

I do have good credit history with more than 30K limit line, but I dont have green card yet. So what do you think guys....
