Hey guys, just wondering if there have ever been international students here who have been considering HHMI, Sarnoff, DD etc, but are on a visa, so they have to use their CPT or OPT time for their research fellowship.

Anyone know the implications of this on residency/matching/working in the USA since we only have 12 months of OPT time?

Thanks!

I can only tell you about some US citizens at SGU who took a year off to do research and got prematched into Urology / Surgery / etc.

However there's also the story of the guy who took a year off to do research, got into a Prelim Surgery Internship, and is now finishing his Family Medicine residency.

For truly international students I do not know the implications of your visas. Contact the appropriate authorities?

Sorry
