I am interviewing at Touro-Nevada. I really really really want to go to this school. My GPA is high, MCAT score is low (research experience, currently an 8th grade science teacher, PCT at Mayo). If they ask you to an interview can academics, such as a low MCAT score still hold you back, or have you completely passed academically and now it is just personality? I am interviewing 1-24. Oh by the way, does anyone know how many students they accept, out of how many they interview. I just got back from an interview at KCUMB (it went well), so at least I am an "experienced" interviewer. I must stop now before I get myself into a nervous wreck. I have never wanted something soooooooooooooo bad! PLEASE GIVE ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The interview is two interviewers and one applicant. As OnMyWayThere said, it is pretty laid back. But it is hard to not be nervous when you really really want something, so I totally understand that. (I was completely nervous my interview day) Remember that they are interested in you since they did give you the interview. They may ask you about your MCAT scores, as well as other items you put in your application and some things that are not there or they may not ask anything about your gpa and mcat and focus on something totally different. It is really hard to say (since I have only my own personal interview experiences to draw from and no inside knowledge of how they actually work) and I am sure depends on the interviewers you get. I felt my interviewers were trying to see me as a person outside of my application. In addition to the "why DO" question, I was also asked about the history of osteopathic medicine.
Also, read the interview feedback that SDN has, read the school site, sort of know what you put in your application since it is an open application interview. That is what I did before I went in for my interview. Well, and kept telling myself to remember to breathe. I was very very very nervous and scared.
As for how many are accepted from each set of interviews, that i don't know and don't have a clue, but you can ask Roger Corbman, the director of admissions, on the day of your interview. He is there to help you and answer any questions you may have. He is really your best resource I feel. Don't worry about looking silly or stupid for the questions you have because it is that thing that if YOU have that question someone else might as well and is just afraid to ask too.
I was just accepted this past decemeber, and so I am really excited about going to the school as well. Just try not to totally freak out. And i think it is a good thing that this is your second interview, especially if TUCOM-NV is your first choice, as now you sort of know what to expect (although the two schools are different, but the initial what do i expect, what are med school interviews like and those types of things are at least lessened) I already live in henderson, so keep in touch and let me know how things go. I will keep my fingers crossed for you
