I read a post where someone stated they received an interview and are still awaiting their August MCAT scores. They were even told they would most likely be accepted if the score was not exceptionally low. This was not an MCAT retake. Is this possible? Has anyone else got an interview by application, verification, LORs, and secondaries, while still waiting for MCAT scores?

I would find this very very hard to believe. The MCAT is a big part of the completed application. Unless they were in the Peace Corp and discovered the cure for cancer and won a Nobel prize and and and ........You get my point.

I've got a theory here:

Maybe this student took the april MCATs and did pretty well. But they still want to do better, so they filled out all their apps and took the august MCAT. A school might want to interview them based on their april scores alone...

Just a thought, I have no idea what the real situation may be.

Yeah, Smitty's response seems a lot more logical.

Yup, that's what happened to me. Took both April and August because I wasn't happy with my April scores, but apparently they were good enough for Vanderbilt. They sent me an invite to interview at the beginning of Sept before the August scores were available. I also think that Vandy is one of those schools that interviews a lot of candidates for its entering class.

Some state schools will interview just most of the in-state applicants (U of Nevada, U of South Dakota come to mind) and might just interview before the August MCAT scores are issued.

I also submitted the paperwork and took the MCAT in August. I even got interviews before the scores came in. I remember one interviewer telling me that I was probably going to get in, as long as my scores were not scandalously low. Why wait one year? But I would only advise to do this if 1)It was impossible to take it in April for whatever reason and 2)I was certain that the score was not going to be too low (maybe a minimum of 26-27). Best of luck.

Sounded too good to be true, but I can dream. 🙂
