Okay here's the deal: 30 MCAT (12,9,9), 3.69 science, 3.3 overall, decent medical experience. I interviewed at Eastern VA Medical School last week and was actually the third person they've interviewed this year. I feel like the interview went very well although they gave me no real feedback as to my chances. I know that when I first received the supplemental they told me I would either be interviewed, rejected or placed on hold. Well what are my chances now that I've interviewed? Am I being overly optimistic to think that I have a great chance at getting in since they obviously thought my numbers are okay, I'm a Hampton Roads area resident (within 15-20 miles of the school) and felt good about my interview?
Any feedback would be appreciated, especially from people who have been in similar situations. Thanks everyone!

speeking of interviews, chck this site out http://www.cs.umbc.edu/~mikeg/medschool.html it basically for non-traditional students, but the feedback on questionaires distributed to prospective MD and MD/PhD students is quite comprehensive.

I've heard... second-hand word of reading on these posts, as a matter of fact, that EVMS gives primary consideration to your area, second to the state of Virginia, and third to the rest. So you're in the favorite bracket with just that fact alone. I've also heard, by word-of-mouth, that when given an interview, the average is a one out of two chance of being accepted. You can interpret these figures as you like and apply them to your particular case! I'd rather not state directly what your chances look like for fear of giving false hopes or denials. Best of luck on it, though!

I'm excited now! Based on your stats, LateBloomer, I might actually have a pretty good chance of getting an EVMS interview. I sent my secondary back weeks ago and I'm just waiting on MCAT scores. I'm really hoping for EVMS because my hubby is active duty Navy (we lived in Chesapeake/Norfolk in '98 and I went to Old Dominion) and EVMS is one of only 2 or 3 schools in the nation that have a Navy base near by. I'm faced with either separation from my husband (that would be BAD) or him having to give up his career (also bad...no steady income while I'm in school). EVMS would allow us to have our cake and eat it too!!! You have given me hope! Thank you and GOOD LUCK on getting in! I just hope we ALL get in!
