I found that the previous years had a thread where they listed the date that a school began to send out II. I think this would be extremely helpful too for this year! Just copy/paste and add in the school & date the II was sent:

1) Copy and paste from the most recent post, including this instruction
2) Before adding, please check to make sure that the school is not already on the list.
3) Add the school's name in order of the date II was sent

Helpful for what? To make for even more stressed out neurotic applicants than ever? I swear, every year I read the threads for you applicants, they get more and more neurotic every year. You guys need to turn in your apps and then turn off SDN!

Relax. Enjoy the ride...it's gonna be a long one. You'll get an II when you get one and if you get one. You'll get an acceptance when you get one, if you get one. No amount of lists and dates and others experiences will make it happen any faster. All it will do is increase the stress levels. Seriously guys, relax! What will be, will be.

Shall we bring data collection into the 21st century fam?

2017/18 Interview Invite Tracker

We can use this to collect and store data on II's and do some better mid and post cycle analysis in the same vein as Planeblue's Interview Invite Tracker

However, if we can get enough people to participate in it this year, we can spot specific patterns to further the neuroses of future premeds!

How are we supposed to reference this in a forum format?

Rather than direct respondents to enter data in a thread response, direct them to the Google Form and make the responses publicly accessible :

2017/18 MD Interview Invite Tracker (Responses)

If you have ever seen a thread similar to this in the past, it gets messy fast and there's always integrity issues (not quoting the most recent response, double adding schools). They're tough to read and even more difficult to summarize.

In a world where we house it through the Google environment - we'd modify the instructions to:

1) Go to (Form Link) and fill in your II school and date
2) View results at (response link)

I'd be happy to bump the thread on a daily basis with a summary of the previous day's II's and repost the links.

this is a great idea. i'll be sure to contribute too. although, it has to be kept in chronological order, and have to prevent double adding schools

I really don't see the point in this thread other than causing stress among neurotic pre-med and feeding into the egos of those that already have interview invites....

The same can be said about 50% of the stuff on the SDN forums. This at least relays information bc lets face it, Neurotic premeds are sifting through the school specific threads anyways looking at II and secondary information(I will admit to being one of these).

I agree with Peyton! Neuroticism aside, this is still a productive pursuit. Guarantee people will refer back to this thread in future cycles to see which schools are fast and slow

Focused neuroticism is productive neuroticism.

Planeblue did this first and his post is an amazing resource. It was a great study into why it is important to apply early. But he did his as a post-cycle analysis, which is labor intensive. Hopefully open sourcing this will give us more data by school and make more sound conclusions on a school by school basis.

I think it can be good in future cycles to manage expectations late in the cycle and let's face it...we're all nerds who like graphs.

So everyone, lets kick off the II tracker! Feel free to cross post the Google Form in your school specific threads to get more traction, I'm going to cross post to reddit to drive responses. I appreciate any/all feedback - if you have any ideas for different summaries let me know!

Instructions:

1) Receive a new II!
2) Fill out this Google Form: 2017/18 MD Interview Invite Tracker
3) View the data at: 2017/18 MD Interview Invite Tracker (Responses)

Maybe this is not a good idea, but perhaps we can increase the neuroticism level by adding a column to the spreadsheet about when you were complete. Might be good to have a baseline to determine which schools are faster/slower from complete as opposed to just in the cycle in general.

Check it out folks! We've been getting some good responses! 43 responses thus far.

2017/18 MD Interview Invite Tracker (Responses)

I added optional responses for MCAT, GPA, IS/OOS, and URM/ORM. Although I wanted to exclude the latter because the success rate of applicants that identify as URM within GPA/MCAT ranges is well studied and I don't want to perpetuate the myth of any conferred advantages. However, I think the IS/OOS and URM/ORM can help applicants in the future target lists a bit better.

I'll respond a bit later with a synopsis.

Does "4 timer club" mean you're a 4th time reapplicant? Just curious!

I wasn't feeling too worried about the cycle until I saw that many of the schools I applied to are already giving out II's!

Feel free to add Tulane 7/14 to the list

I'm sorry I find it a little odd you assume I'm going to attack you for applying to 56 schools? I totally respect you for sending out that many, I'm sure it's going to take a lot of willpower and effort to get through all those secondaries and I understand you want to apply once and get it over with. I just feel that there's a lot of good info on this site while at the same time there's a lot of times where people are looking to pick arguments or fights because someone else has a differing opinion. I said what I thought so I'll let this thread keep going

I wonder if these are EDP applicants. @lpp06 would you mind adding an option to indicate EDP?

I'm not sure if it's from SDN or reddit, but one responder listed a Tulane invite as being sent out in September. Remember to double-check your answers, and that this is for when you received the invite rather than when you are attending the interview.

On the form where it lists average MCAT by school, it's really hard to match the school to the numbers without grid lines. I'm not sure if it's just because I'm mobile though.

Does anybody know if/how/where we can find out stats about average number of II per applicant? Based on stats or not, idc either way

Not by applicant/stats, but the matriculating student questionnaire indicates that most matriculating students received 3 II's and 1 acceptance.

At the end of this year, if this tracker compiles enough data, we may be able to put a number to II by stats.

This is a really depressing thread.

Although it may appear that a lot of interviews have gone out, be mindful that this represents a VERY small fraction of all the interviews that will be given.

This is just back of the napkin math - but there are approximately going to be 60,000+** interviews given out this year so this survey currently represents 0.2% of total II's.

Do not be discouraged at all.

** I estimated this using 2016/17 Matriculant total and the median # of offered interviews per the MSQ

People who use r/premed and sdn tend to be higher stat individuals. Not many pre meds actually use sdn on a regular basis. Classic response bias.
