During my interview at Yale I was asked where I have interviewed by other interviewees. I felt like others were talking up a storm so I said I was interviewed at Harvard. It was a lie, I did not even apply there. I accidentally also mentioned this to the person interviewing me. Is there a way for the interviewer to find out if I actually interviewed at Harvard? I am nervous now. Those damn pre-med kids really got me going. I hope I did not blow it. Anyone have to deal with a similar problem? My concern is that all interviews are registered through the AAMC and can be checked? Thanks

They can only see where you got accepted and only after they make a decision regarding your acceptance/waitlist/denial

Wow. I don't know anything about what schools can see, but all I can tell you is RELAX - you interviewed at Yale! That is a phenomenal school and there is no need for an inferiority complex. Especially one that causes you to accidentally lie twice. Good luck in the process and I hope your visit went well other than this incident.

laughter is the best gift for the holidays...thank you for this post

haha you idiot. that's what you get for lying! If they find out they can throw out your entire application, or worse..tell all of the other med schools to reject you based upon your dishonesty and obvious lack of professionalism! If you lie about something so minor, then your whole credibility is brough into question.

Most people don't care enough to verify where the applicants apply/interview. It's not all that big of a deal. You should learn from your mistake and quit lying!

ha! i kind of did the same thing at one of my interviews. but, i had actually applied to the school and got waitlisted... when i got asked if i had any interviews lately, i named all the schools i had heard from that week then realized my mistake, but couldn't backtrack. he looked really surprised that i was still interviewing at his school after my "other interview".

anyway, if you had an open interview, they have your AMCAS in hand and there's a list of all the schools you appolied to on there. i'm just mentioning it b/c my interviewer was referring to it when i got asked ... :::looking down on my list::: "hm...uh-huh, okay, and what about school X?"

so, if you still could i would tell you to add harvard to your amcas 🙂 but i don't think you can and it probably won't matter anyway. i'm sure a lot of ppl interviewing at yale interview at harvard and he won't remember such a small detail...good luck

I still can't get over the fact that you "accidentally" lied twice. hahahahaha. I just love it.

You shouldn't "accidentally" lie, dumb@ss.... (oops, I "accidentally" called you a dumb@ss) People talk, and shockingly, people at Harvard know people at Yale. I'm sure it won't change anything, but don't be such a tool -- and then blame it on other people.

Wait, I thought schools don't receive the last page of your AMCAS and don't know what other schools you've applied to...

Maybe I'm wrong 😕

I did not complete the application for Harvard. They are on my AMCAS application if the school was interested in checking. For those making harsh remarks, you have never told a little fib during your interview?

You made a mistake and most likely nothing will happen. I don't see how it could affect you. It's not like you lied about your credentials or anything. If Yale bothers to do a full check, and recalls what you said, there's a good chance you'll look bad. But that's only at Yale- if you interviewed at a school of that caliber, you must be already doing well in this cycle. Stop worrying and enjoy Winter Break!

No one's perfect, my friend. I am more than sure that they have. Everyone wants to pump themselves up to look better than everyone else... not sure yours was the best path to go on, but what can you do now?

it's not a lie if you believe it. Believe it!

I can just see them reviewing your app... hmm, well, he might get into harvard, since he DID interview there and all... lets just let harvard have him, he wouldn't pick us over them anyway

Is your name from "The Jerky Boys" prank calls?

My name is Frank, and yes the Rizzo part is from the Jerky Boys. I think you are the first person to realize that. Kudos!
