Talk to one of your attendings or your residents and ask for a mock interview.

Be prepared to answer the basic questions, why medicine, why this program, etc etc

there was a thread with all the different kinds of qusetions in here....go look it up, it should be on this page..it was a good review...

and best of luck...good luck...remember this isn't medical school. It is as much about them recruiting you as it is you wanting to go into their program...

if you want my recommendation, I recommend shaving off that fuzz before you go into the interview?

I guess I'm kind of attached to it...it...grows on you. 😀

I have been shaving my head for the past few years. What do you guys think about interviewing with a completly shaved look. It'll be silly to "grow" it out to stuble since i am practically hairless either way. What do you think?

Personally, I think that you shouldn't change your baseline "game" hair (or no hair for that matter!). I think that while other things like earrings (for dudes), tongue rings (for dudes and ladies), or tattoos of tears around the eyes may give interviewers a preconceived notion of who you are, a shaved head should not. I mean, plenty of folks go shaven when they start balding, right? I guess it also depends on the program and the interviewer, though. Many folks are still "old school" and expect everyone to conform to a specific image.

So in a long-worded and inefficient answer, people shouldn't jump to conclusions about people based on their looks. But unfortunately, some do anyway. It is the nature of our society to judge based on little information. Ultimately the interview is designed to give you a chance to interact with folks at the institution and see how you feel there. So I'd say just go and be yourself--don't try to grow half-hair because it may look worse anyway, right?

Yeah I guess you're right about the "half-hair" business. I will go as usual, and if they bump me for my "do", then it's not worth it anyway.

I recommend polishing the chrome-dome to a high lustre. The interviewers would be hard-pressed to call you anything other than "brilliant." 😀

I'm sorry, the only person who can get away with a shaved heads are black guys, and it really looks good on them...

for you white guys...make sure you have the fluff on top of your head...it's there for a reason
