Hey everyone, wanted to get advice about general interview presentation. Aside from wearing a dark suit, and nonflashy shirt any other things to be aware of? Well trimmed facial hair okay? what color tie? so on..any advice about interview appearances would help a lot. thanks

on the tie, go conservative but attractive. Get a haircut a week before the interview so it doesn't look like you *just* got one. As far as facial hair, I think it's fine as long as you have it groomed tip-top and it looks good --- i'm growing a beard this winter but waiting til after nov interviews because the first month looks kinda spotty. 😳

My advice is to just keep it easy on the eye. You can use a bright tie or bright shirt but it is kinda dorky if you show up with a Spongebob Squarepants tie. Unless you get that 1 interviewer who loves the show...but then your other interviewer will be an ex-marine and will call you a sissy boy.

Personally, I'd be on the safe side and say no to a beard or mustache... but thats just me.

Red and blue are "power colours"; I would stay with a red or blue tie. Facial hair is ok if it is groomed. Pay attention to politicians: good ones tend to dress impeccably. Scooter Libby and Tom Delay have (really) nice clothes and are all over the news. And you can't beat Delay's smile in his mug-shot!
Take out piercings if you're a guy. Make sure your teeth are devoid of foodstuffs. Brown socks and black shoes rarely make a positive fashion statement. And just be yourself - unless you look like a total schlep, your clothes won't matter as much as you will.

Wear something that will make them remember you...

I know you guys (and girls) worry about this. But, it's not worth obsessing about. The most important part of the interview is the first few minutes. I DON'T want to be distracted by your clothes, so please don't wear anything that will "help" me remember you! Clothes and your appearance will not get you admitted, but they will get you rejected if you are "out there". Be neat (beards are fine, but like your clothes and your body they should be clean). Men, I've gotten used to a small earing, but why risk that with other interviewers? Take it out for the damn interview. And, if you overpower me with cologne, I won't be happy. Hide your tatoos, please. Women, I really do NOT want to see the full extent of your cleavage. The bottom line is--a) make sure YOU feel comfortable and confident in what you are wearing, and b) if Mom dropped you off for the interview, would she approve what you are wearing?
