Hello,

I have my first interview with the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, and I am curious as to what kind of questions I should prepare for. If you have had any experience with the interviews and how it was, and any advice you could give me that would be wonderful. Thank you.

When is your interview?

I had mine on Dec 12, and it was very relaxed and laid-back. All the interviewees meet in a conference room where the Interim Dean Dr. Patters and the Dean of Admissions Dr. Coleman tell you about the school and program. Then they call you in individually for the interview. They have a board at the front of the room with the names of all the interviewees listed, and they call you in according to where you're listed on that.

The interview itself was fairly short. 10-15 mins. Dr. Coleman + 3 other faculty members interviewed me. Very basic questions...they just want to get to know you and why you're interested in dentistry, what you've done to explore the field of dentistry. Nothing to worry about. Just be honest and be yourself and you should be fine.

After all the interviews are done, you get a tour of the school/facilities/clinic, have lunch with dental students so you can ask them questions about the school, and then you're done.

There's quite a bit of walking so wear comfortable shoes if possible. I was sick and taking antibiotics at the time and was feeling nauseous the whole day so if I can make it through that with no problems...you've got nothing to worry about.
