In addition to questions that were asked of you, I would be equally interested in questions that people have asked the interviewers. I think it is important to have some good questions in mind before going into an interview.

Best Regards

Hey guys,

Interview questions by schools really vary between all the schools! Not only questions vary, but format also vary. Here are some links for you to browse and get an idea of types of questions schools usually ask and good for you to know the answers to:

<a href="http://www.predental.com/traditionalquestion%27s.htm" target="_blank">http://www.predental.com/traditionalquestion%27s.htm</a>

<a href="http://www.predental.com/OtherQs.htm" target="_blank">http://www.predental.com/OtherQs.htm</a>

Interview formats:

1) 3-on-1: EX: 3 interviews and 1 interviewee, Nova Southeastern University

2) 1-on-5: EX: 1 interviewer and 5 interviewees, Temple University

3) 1-on-1: most dental schools uses this format

Questions I usually ask the schools:

1) Research opportunities? Is there any research going on here (for private schools)?

2) Patient pool? Diverse? Ample?

3) Procedural exposure? Will I fight for patients with post-doctoral students as a pre-doctoral student for endo and oral surgery procedures?

4) How's the social atmosphere here at this school? Clubs, organizations, and student lifestyle?

5) Statistics? Board exam scores (NBDE I & II), specialty placement percentages, and graduation percentage? You may want to be careful with this question during your interview. It's a sensitive question, may want to ask post interview.

6) Academic support? Is there a mentor program with an upperclassman or a faculty? Is there preceptorship programs where you work privately with a current private practicing dentist? Open-door policy with faculty members with students?

7) If a school has Problem Based Learning (PBL), ask them about that!

8) White coat ceremony, do they have one?

9) If a school has their classes with the medical students, ask them about that and how dental students like that?

10) Scholarship opportunities? Any free money?

There are just so much questions that you can ask the school during your interviews. BE ACTIVE in your application process and do you RESEARCH about your school of interest!

Also STAY-TUNED for our interview feedback page coming soon for pre-dental students! For sample feedbacks, visit this link:

<a href="http://www.studentdoctor.net/interview/" target="_blank">http://www.studentdoctor.net/interview/</a>

There isn't any dental school interviews yet in this feedback page, but soon (hopefully) SDN will incoporate dental schools in there so we (people that have already interviewed at various schools) can fill out "interview feedbacks" and you (people that have not interviewed) can view them as reference.

Remember, BE PROACTIVE in your application process, be on top of things and don't sit back and let it come to you!

thanks!. Those sites were very helpful~~

Here's some questions that made me think:

What's your proudest accomplishment/why?

Describe a conflict you experienced with another person, and explain how you worked it out.

Dental school is really hard. Apart from grades/test scores, why do you think you're qualified?

If another applicant has qualifications similar to yours, why should we pick you?

Do u mind posting the answers u gave to these weird questions?

? Can you tell me about yourself?
? So, what do you think of our University?
? Who else have you interviewed with?
? What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
? What are your major strengths and weaknesses?
? I am a bit worried about your lack of...
? What do you like to do in your spare time?
? What would you say is your most important accomplishment? Failure? Disappointment? Why?
? What is the most difficult challenge you faced in your life and how did you handle it?
? How are you better than other applicants?
? Have I forgotten anything?
? Why did you choose ??.? Major
? What have you done to explore the dental field.
? How would you describe a successful dentist?

Just some questions I can think of. Hope this will help a bit

How would you handle the question:

Did you apply to medical school?

At my UCSF interview last yr, it was a closed interview so the interviewer did not have my record in front of him....so he asked me almost everything I've done in undergrad from clubs to research etc. He asked how have I shown my leadership and clubs, extracurricular activities etc. He also asked, "So if I asked you to help me do some tissue culturing, you wouldn't contaminate my cells?". I thought that was funny, but I gave my honest answer and said, "I'll try my best not to". And that was the first time he smiled thru out the whole half hour interview. Well, I got in, but now I attend UCLA! <img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" />
