In many secondaries, they ask for interview date restrictions. Since my school's semester hasn't started, I won't know midterm dates or things like that until later, so are you guys going in with the mentality "Who cares about school, get the interview first and then try to reschedule midterms and final exams"?

I'm just wondering if I can be picky and put down I would like to be interviewed after final exams....

I personally am going with the idea of interviews get priority.. but I am also not taking any classes this semester that I NEED.

I had one professor this year who was really accomodating for medical school applicants. He would re-schedule midterms specifically for those who needed to go on interviews. Although I'm sure some professors wouldn't do the same, if you talk to them they might cut you some slack ... after all, they know the pain of applying to grad school. Who knows, you might find someone who is really nice.

Don't worry about the interview date restrictions on the secondaries. Most schools will give you several dates to choose from when they notify you for an interview.

Also...its probably not a good idea to wait til after final exams to be interviewed. Since it is rolling admissions at most schools, you probably want to take the earliest possible interview dates you can work into your schedule out of the dates they offer you.

When are your finals? If they're in December (like most schools) then you could be hurting yourself by waiting so long - especailly if the school has rolling admissions. Some schools (Yale, for example) don't send out any offers until spring, so interviewing late for them is fine.

When I was interviewing, I tried to schedule most of my interviews as soon as possible, so I was done in mid-November, in plenty of time for finals. 😉

Good luck. 🙂
