Being that I'm taking my MCATs saturday for the first time, and I've already applied to schools, I must release my results. Maybe I'm just nervous, but I see a lot of you with interviews and acceptances for '07 & '08. Anyone willing to share if you had just average or low MCATs but still got interviews or acceptances? My GPA, EC, LOR, etc etc are pretty strong, but I'm terrified I'll mess up Saturday and have to pray for interviews. :scared:

Please help. 😛

i messed up on the august mcat but still got in. i had 9's on all sections but still managed to get 9 interviews, 3 acceptances, and a few more waitlists i ended up withdrawing from. check out www.mdapplicants.com and you will see that it is possible to get in with scores under 30, though more difficult. good luck on saturday!! and try not to mess up 🙂. even if you do, it is not the end of the world. i called my mom crying after the test b/c i was convinced i had wrecked my chances of getting into a california school, but i ended up at a uc.
there are a couple of threads like this if you do a search. one started by doctora foxy is called something like "acceptances with mcat less than 30, post em".

I feel better now. Thank you so much! 🙂

What schools did you get/not get interviews?
What school accepted your application? UC Irvine and ?
I am dying to know how 27 of MCAT gets someone into a UC medical school and appreciate any additional info about your application.

I still have a print out of the thread you recommend.

you got into a UC school? Congrats Lola!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought you were going to georgetown though...
You gave me advice a long time ago to take the MCATs again for the third time, and I just wanted to say thanks again- I am scoring now consistently at the 30-31 range, and I am really hoping that I can finally beat this test
good luck in med school!!

Hey -- don't plan for disaster! Do your best, and hope for the best. Try not to get too tied up in knots abou this stupid test.

Congratulations on your acceptance, lola!

honestly, i'd say getting into a uc with a 27 takes a lot of luck, someone on an adcom who believes in you and will go to bat for you when others on the committee don't want to let you in, and a very solid rest of your application. my gpa was good from a well respected school, i have years of research experience, played a varsity sport, have recent volunteer experience as well as a few years of work in public health, and also have a master's degree in public health. i knew my recommenders quite well b/c i went to a small school, so i'm sure that helped me get excellent letters. there is no recipe for getting into med school. it's all about presenting yourself in the best light possible and hoping that you will stand out from the crowd.
