SDN'ers,

I just received an interview from Vanderbilt via mail, and an interview from Michigan (like others) via their status page. Because I would be interested in this sort of information, I was wondering if we could start a thread where people list their interview invites and how they got them? So, here I will start it off and others can add if they get some as well:

U Michigan - Status Page
Vanderbilt - Mail

I hope others will respond! 🙂🙂

Guess there's no love 🙁 (or no interviews yet, but I'm sure the ppl on here will definitely have tons!)

Ice, add the word "OFFICIAL" to your thread title and then that's a license to print money. That makes it sound important 😉. Congrats on the interviews so far btw!

Oh yeah, and maybe add something about dates you found out, and dates of the interview?

portage and ice_23 -

Have you already sent in your LOR's/committee letters, or are they offering you interviews without them?

thanks!

no lors were sent yet; vandy actually waits until the interview before you send in the material. i have no idea how they come up with interviewing....perhaps some combo of #formula, followed by a real quick review of activities, ps????

I agree...this thread needs the word "OFFICIAL" in the title to really rake in all of the posts.

is it safe to assume that the fine folks who have gotten interviews at these great schools so early are superstar students? just curious.

I'm in the Texas system, which gets rolling earlier than the average, I guess. Interviews at

UT Houston- email
TCOM- phone & mail
UTMB(Galveston)- snail mail

No word from any AMCAS schools yet...

Interviews thus far:

Vanderbilt 8/19--snail mail
UTMB 8/15--snail mail
UT-Houston 8/28--email/snail mail

Vanderbilt --

Unsure when because I need to clear this with my employer...

Ok, I added the word "Official" as Lux et. al. suggested. 🙂

So as of now, here is the list of interview invites that I have seen posted along with their method of communication:

TCOM - Phone & Mail
U Mich - Status Page
UT Houston - email/snail mail
UTMB(Galveston) - snail mail
Vanderbilt - mail

To those who asked, for U mich and vandy, I did not send any extra materials other than the primary. I think that they give interviews based on your primary, and then use your secondary for the interview itself? (although I could be wrong). And I think that they are doing a simple numbers/essay analysis of the primary (meaning, I don't think you have to be a superstar to get these invites; all those who haven't got them might have them in the mail/email today! 🙂).

Hmmm, i guess you cannot change the thread name in the forum...well that sux...🙁

Hey everyone,

Do you guys who got dates with Vanderbilt mind posting your AMCAS submitted/verified dates? I am still active (count: day 22), but I did get an e-mail from Vanderbilt with them pretty much telling me that they know about me and that I shouldn't send any docs in YET. I was wondering if anyone else got this and/or maybe got an interview with/without this e-mail.

Thanks in advance,

Goose

Does anyone have an opinion on which day of the week is best to do an interview? I'm trying to decide if I should schedule it for Friday or Monday...

Thanks!

My interview to the Early Assurance Program:

Upstate Medical Universty: phone and snail mail follow-up

I'd say interviewing on a Friday is better becuase everyone is in a better mood... but Monday may be good too becuase they won't be so tired of doing interviews all week...

Ice,

So you got the interview at Michigan before or after receiving the email about the secondary?

raincrew,

I was given the email about the secondary, so I went online, and then checked the status page. At that time, it said nothing about an interview. Then I received an emailing about sending in LOR's, and when I checked my status page, there was the notification about an interview. I think the LOR email is somehow the one that is indicative of an interview, although I could be wrong...

Hope this helps,

-Ice

thanks ice. hopefully i will receive the lor email soon since i just received the secondary email this afternoon.

I got the LOR email for Michigan, but didn't get the interview one ... do you think that they might be giving interviews based on numbers?

I just got an interview invite for Vanderbilt via mail. Just wondering, how many do you think they interview? I'm guessing they must screen pretty hard before inviting because they give out interviews before secondaries!!??

dara,

I don't know how they make the distinction. Maybe it is because my residency is Illinois?

I was verifed 7/28. Vandy downloaded my app on 7/30. I haven't heard anything yet.

I spoke to a nice lady in the Adcom office today. She said it usually takes 4-6 weeks from your verification date to hear back. She also said that I would probably have to wait only 2 weeks, since I was in an "earlier" batch.

Hope this helps. I'll let you know if and when I get an offer. You do the same.

Later and good luck,
