Anybody have an interview yet? I have one at UM (university of michigan) on Sept. 12, wondering if anybody's gonna be there with me.

Do you mind if I ask your stats? I just am curious because I heard that U of M gives automatic interviews to applicants with exceptional GPA and MCAT stats. Good luck at the interview and well done!

my stats are pretty solid, but i didn't get an invite yet...got the secondary a while back though. i think they screen, but does anyone know how many people get the secondary. also, i think i read in one of the threads that they offer immediate interviews to stellar mich residents only??? i don' tknow really so if someone does, let us know.

I'm an Ohio resident with a 3.83 and a 35R. Not any mindboggling stats, but I am hispanic. I haven't even sent my secondary application in yet there. Thanks for the good luck, you too.

Vandy interview here but that is all...

shanequin,

I am also going to interview at U Mich. on September 12, so we might see each other there 🙂🙂

I got an e-mail today from Michigan to fill out their secondary. But nothing about an interview. 🙁

Ill be at UM on the 5th. My stats are pretty solid and I am out-of-state, but UM is known to accept a ton of students from my undergrad.

I also have Vandy on the 8th and UT-Houston on the 21st of this month.

hey, I'll see you there Sept 12th! I think this one is a full day thing like from 7am to late, but either way it'll be my first so I'm really excited 🙂

Hey Pikayou,
Look forward to seeing you in Ann Arbor. How do you plan on getting from Detroit to campus?

woohoo! I just got the e-mail about sending in LORs, so I checked my status page, and sure enough, I've got an interview. I haven't called to set it up yet, I'll do that soon. I'll do my best to get one whenever you guys are going, though. That would be sweet!

I was just checking out the stats: there are about 5000 applicants, and they interview 600, and accept about 200, so we have really crossed a serious cutoff. We have a 1 in 3 chance! So chances are someone on this thread will get in! 😀

When I called all the spots on September 5 were closed up. We have Gleevac to thank for that, just kidding. So shoot for the 12.

How good were your stats guys?

3.5 and a 35 gonna cut it?

I would think so. I had 4.0 (from a state school), 36, non-URM, traditional, non-resident.

eekk!

3.5 and 4.0 are entirely different.

your butt is going to harvard is you have enough face paint to look diverse.

I should cat it really. UF/Shands is a super school for surgery and i dont know if i would pay the extra anyway to go out of state. but damn....I want a peice of the exitment! UMich rocks...

And thats a hell of a cut off you guys hurdled. 5000->600
Makes me wonder what happened with standford...

how long after you submitted your secondaries (if you did) did you get the e-mail about LORs?

I haven't submitted my secondary yet. I just got the e-mail to fill out the secondary yesterday, and I got the e-mail about the interview today.

I don't think schools will give a whole lot of weight to a 4.0 from OU. I think we're a third tier school, and I know several people with 4.0s.

Oh, and I am diverse! While I am a white male, I am also a Scotch Okie! 😀 How many Scotch Okies do you think they have? But seriously, my advisor said some schools do consider people from rural Oklahoma diverse.

I am new to this site. can someone please tell me what a secondary is.

First, you fill out the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). That one application goes out to all the schools. It's also called the "primary" application. Then, when the schools hear that you've applied there, they will contact you, and give you a "secondary" application to fill out. It might have more essay questions, or you might have to repeat stuff from the AMCAS app, but invariably, you will have to pay another fee to each school, ranging from $25 - $100. So that's a secondary.

Hey guys, anyone here going to vandy on Sept 19th? Not sure whether I am morning or afternoon yet.

Aug 27----my first day of fall classes, but oh well!!!!! 🙂

I bet they're already sold out, dude. But you could check e-bay.

I'm still waiting on the snail-mail letter so I can call and set up the interview. I hope the 12th is still open on Monday.
