Just a little levity that I thought you guys may enjoy. Here's the Frustrated AMCAS Applicant Game. Enjoy. Be sure to correctly
add your point totals. I have yet to decide what the winner gets.
10) You can recite AMCAS's phone number by heart. Give yourself 3 points.
You know their fax number as well. 6 points.
AMCAS is on your speed dial: 5 points.
9) Your credit card was charged by AMCAS more than once. Add 3 points to your score. Add on 3 points for each additional charge you incurred.
8) You have resorted to sending out paper copies of your application to various med schools. Add 3 points. Add 1 point for each school over 3.
If you also had to request official transcripts be forwarded to these schools, add an additional 2 points per school.
7) You have arisen early in an attempt to call AMCAS in hopes to minimize wait time. If you live on the west coast and awoke at 6am, give yourself 9 points. If east coast, 3 points. Any other time zone, 6 points.
6) You submitted your primary application in June, but your application hasn't even been processed yet. 6 points. You don't even have the change/notification box yet. 9 points.
5) When you call to inquire about why your application hasn't been processed, you were read the 4-6 weeks line, verbatim. Good for another 5 points.
4) You have waited over 30 minutes to speak with an AMCAS specialist. Sorry, only 2 points. Over an hour? I feel your pain. Give yourself 6 points. For each additional minute over an hour, tack on 1/2 a point.
3) You discover the "specialist" who finally answers your call has no idea what they're talking about. As this is an all too common occurrence, you can only add 1 point to your total. If you have the guts to inquire as to how they got the title "specialist", give yourself 10 points.
2) Your MCAT scores were added, then deleted from your web application. 3 points. AMCAS has no record of you ever taking the MCAT. 8 points.
1) AMCAS has lost your transcripts. Tack on 4. They've lost them more than once. Give yourself 4 for each additional time you've had to resend them. AMCAS still doesn't have your transcripts. 8 points. AMCAS has transcripts from a school you never attended. 10 points
