I received an invitation to APPLY to Wash U in St. Louis last night. What the??

I got one too. I checked my mail, and was thinking "I didn't apply to WUSTL..."

I had no idea med schools solicited.

I got one of those "invites" from U Pitt, but I know darn well I wouldn't stand a chance there, so I didn't accept their offer. Your situation could be different, but I'd look into it before spending the extra money...

Also, how do they know my MCAT scores? I don't plan to bite the bait on this one, although it was somewhat flattering. Their tuition is 35 grand a year. Unbelievable.

Could be through Med-Mar -I gots several letters from schools asking me to apply

Yeah that was some bull****. I got one of those letters and my application has been complete for a couple of weeks. I guess they think that because I took the august mcat that I'm a junior. I emailed them and was like what the hell?

Yeah, URMs get a whole lot of mailings from Med-MAR. I have no idea how accurately they reflect chances. Don't forget, ALL AMCAS schools have your MCAT scores, not just the ones you applied to. That's what you agreed to when you released them, there was no way not to.

For those people on MED-MAR [minority applicant registry fyi] what scores did you have IF you got letters?

I got a 32 overall and I've got some of those solicitations (I admit, I bit at a few). Do all schools send them to all minorities? lets try and figure out the score ranges...

I'm not a minority, and I got the invitation. My scores were pretty high, though.

Yeah, generally if it's a Med-MAR mailing...you know it pretty quickly. Personally, I've got a 30 MCAT and a whole bunch of stuff from Med-MAR. I really have no idea how accurate it is...but somehow I doubt Harvard is in my future...

OP here, I'm not a URM - MCAT(Aug 01) 35P. The letter was even more surprising coming from WUSTL, where they claim to have a MCAT ave of 36.

I know a girl in our class who was invited to apply to Harvard (she refused to) with a 3.4 from U Arizona and a 29 MCAT. She is half Mexican and therefore a URM, but not disadvantaged.

and here I thought I was special getting an invite to apply! I havn't gotten offers from any other schools becasue of my Aug scores (37Q), and I am also registered through MED-MAR.

Yeah, same sentiments here. Actually, I am not with Med-MAR, and at first I was pumped that UWSTL invited me to apply too (I got a 36S). But of course what with rolling admissions and all that, not to mention how darn selective they are, my chances are likely to be slim to none... 😛 😛 😛 Forget 'em. 🙂

I got accepted to WashU MSTP with only a 31 MCAT. Theres more to your app than just MCAT, and even though WashU has the highest MCAT score average in the country, its not the only thing they look at.
