just wondering if it is worth spending $260 for an ipaq 3765. Do any of you have any pros/cons with ipaq??? Do you find having one is really worth it?? finally, do you have any compatibility issues?? thanks!!!

Ipaq is the best out there, with the strongARM chip and the new OS. I think that the price is a little suspect. They usually go for 400 at least (after rebates). These pdas are very expandable (modems, huge memory, fullsize keyboards, etc.).

it comes direct from compaq as a refurbished item-- which means they've replaced a defective item or it was over-stocked at the store. Other than that they claim to double checked them and that they are equally as reliable as those store bought.

Actually I have to clarify. All the new pocketpcs have the 206MHz strongARM chip. Previously, only the compaq models had this chip and therefore developers had to release different versions for each chip. Unfortunately for owners of the other pocketpc brands, they often only released strongARM versions. Ipaq is certainly the most visible of the pocketpcs and as I mentioned earlier they are very expandable. If you have 260 bucks then this is certainly a very good deal. All of the pocketpcs have pluses and minuses, but now most of them have something to do with the particulars of the design rather than the chip. I personally wish ipaq would put a titanium cover over the screen like hp. Compaq is also a little bulkier once you add on the extension pack. I think microsoft will be coming out with tabletpcs soon (sometime in the next year). It will be interesting to see how widespread those become.

Get the 3865, much better screen and features. Downside, much more expensive.

I have the iPaq 3835 ($570), and have been very happy with it. It did die on me in March for no apparent reason, but Compaq was pretty prompt about sending a prepaid Airborne mailer and fixing it. I had it back in a week or so. I love the thing.

do you really find yourself using it as a tool or more as a toy??? i guess that it totally up to the individual but do you see it as an asset in your education/clinical setting?

$250? Are you serious? If it is refurbished item, most of the times you won't be able to tell the difference. It will come in a nice grey box with no nice packing but functionally it is completely the same as the new one. It has 64mb of memory and Excel and Word. I have one of these (Casio Cassiopea 500) and pretty satisfied with it. However, I found that somewhat shy using it because I do not want people to think that I am showing off.
