I won't be submitting my amcas application until the end of July or the first of August. Is that too late in the cycle? I am in the process of getting a new apartment, so I won't have the money until the end of the month or the beginning of next month. I'm probably honestly looking at around August 3rd or 4th before I submit. I've sent in my transcripts already, so I need to just submit. Any advice would be cool?

You have to look at the deadlines for the school both on their websites and on the AMCAS website. If oyu feel that you've missed all of the school you are intrested in going to it's too late.
YOu would have been better off eariler. But hey if oyur application wasen't ready in your eyes ot just becasue you were waiting for something it's all good. I applied around thanksgiving. I applied to 10 interviewed at 5 accepted 2 so far and on waitlist off 2 so it lengthens the process. but if you feel you have something meaning ful you can do in the year off or inbetween ok... if not it's your choice to apply or not. It can be done and has been doen by others much later than you

I submitted last year in the beginning of August. I applied to 14 schools and had 6 interviews, but my interviews didn't start until December and went all the way through April. I was wait-listed at all 6 six schools, and got into two schools from there--one right around May 15 and my top choice this past weekend. Would I have done better if I had submitted earlier? I'd say probably yes, but I can't really complain since I'm going to my first choice. Just something to think about...

Its of course true that you should submit your amcas app as soon as possible, especially since so many do it the first day its available (those guys make me sick). This is because many schools offer admissions on a rolling basis, so you would be giving yourself the best shot of getting an interview if you applied early. That being said, however........ I dont think August is that late at all. Especially if that is realistically the earliest you can do it because of your situation. Just make sure you send in your secondaries fairly quickly after you get them. I know plenty of slackers, including my self, that applied as late as December and were offered several acceptances.

Well look at the thread I started about AMCAS after 6/24. AMCAS states that they DO have up to six weeks to process your application and then what happens if they think something is missing or wrong? potentially another couple of weeks. If you submit in August six weeks from that is about mid September and then God forbid something holds you up and it could be October. I would submit now from my own experience.

Could you get the money together to submit and designate just one school for now? That would only cost $150 I think for the first school, and your application would be processed sooner. Then when you have the money you add the rest of the schools and it gets transmitted almost immediately, instead of having to wait 4-6 weeks for it to be processed. End result is your app would be transmitted to schools by mid-Aug. instead of by mid-September, which I think would be a significant advantage. I applied late Aug. last year and dragged my feet on secondaries, got 5 interviews, attended 4, and got 4 waitlists. I got accepted to my first choice off the waitlist so it wasn't fatal but applyijg earlier would have been better. So I'd say if your app is ready to go and it's just an issue of getting the money together, submit it, designate just 1 school for $150, and then when you're ready you can add the rest of the schools and your app will be transmitted much faster than if you wait till Aug. to submit your AMCAS. Not sure if this is a clear explanation--if not feel free to ask questions.

This is a brilliant idea. Do this. Your app will be proofed and ready to go when you add more schools. Beg or borrow the $150 to do this.

I had a similar situation last year. I did exactly what the above posters suggested. I got together enough money to apply to three schools, then added the rest later. I submitted in September, and it did not take six weeks to process my app. My transcript had already been received by AMCAS, and after I submitted, I was verified and processed within a week and a half. My app was available to schools two weeks after I submitted. I don't know if this is typical or atypical, but that is what happened. I applied to seven schools, sent six secondaries, received four interviews, and two acceptances. Now, I did get in off the waitlist, right around May 15, so that is something to think about. Early is definitely better, but I don't think that it is going to be the end of the world if you submit in late July/early August. Good luck! 🙂

i didnt submit amcas untill november and i got 5 interviews, waitlisted at 4 of them, and accepted to one of them.
