Is august too late for step 2?

I got a 600 on comlex level I and I plan on taking comlex II in august. Do you guys think that is too late considering I won't get my scores back until September? I plan on applying for general surgery. I have some things going on and can't take it in July (and I have no idea why july 15th is the latest you are able to take the test.)

Do programs look at Step 2 scores before interview invites?

Took mine in August, got my scores back in September. They went out no prob
