i dont believe any of the Ivy's notify until March...of course, they could just set aside whoever they wanted until they filled up their class...

So is there a benefit in appyling early for a school that doesnt have rolling admissions?

Yes! Admissions is still rolling. They just don't tell you in a rolling manner. There are way too many applications to read. Submitting early will get you an interview earlier before the class starts filling up.

Harvard even does this thing where they let what they consider the top of the application pool ("select applicants") interview before everyone else.

yes. besides agreeing (that word looks funny to me) with what random access said about the rolling-admissions-but-not-telling-you-in-a-rolling-manner, another benefit is getting that stinking secondary out of your house!! then you no longer have to worry about it and when on earth you'll get it finished and sent out! :)
