What exactly makes these tiered systems different than a "standard" grading system? This sorta just seems like it would be H=A, HP=B, P=C, F=F.
Is there a benefit to getting honors over high pass in the schools that use these systems?
For me, the grading system hasn't been a huge factor in my decisions on where to apply, but I'm just curious what the purpose of the tiered systems like this would be, since it seems to be a bit of a hybrid of pass/fail and a standard grading system.
