Is it necessary to withdraw primary app too?

So, should you withdraw from schools that you never sent the secondary to?

I am guessing not. But just checking.

I would think that is the polite thing to do, though I don't think it is required. I decided not to send the secondary to Loma Linda, and I called their office to withdraw my app. I think they would have just inactivated it anyway after the deadline passed, no I don't think it really matters to much in the scheme of things.

Actually I did Scoob. I just mailed out a letter saying that I was no longer continuing with the appliation process (one school required it)

I don't know. The only schools that I didn't send secondaries to are ones that pissed me off, like Rush with their ridiculous ten essays. I'm not about to waste my time and write them a letter. If they want to be that irritating, let them figure it out 🙂

I guess the correct thing to do would be to send letters to schools that you are no longer interested in stating that. But, some schools will actually ask you if you are still interested in applying to their program on the secondary. So, that would take care of that.

Why in the world would anyone fill out a secondary if they weren't still interested in the school? 🙄

I think my guiding principle last year was this: If I had not been rejected, but knew I would not attend the school (because I was in somewhere I wanted to go more), then I withdrew formally. The medical schools greatly prefer to have withdrawal notices in writing - they can then put it in your file and put it away without worry of you coming back to them later and saying they did not fairly consider you. In the end, it's just a courtesy issue, I think. Just my thoughts... 🙂
