Is it okay to do research in psychology if you're on the pre-med track?

I'm a freshman on the premed track and I was looking at research opportunities for next year or next semester. I'm deciding between majoring in psych or bio. I wanted to do research in either of those fields. How do med schools feel about research in psych? Are there any preferred fields?

If you can employ the scientific method and thinking for one's self than you're fine.

I did research in sociology & public health.

Only pre-optho is allowed to do psych research. Sorry, OP - looks like you are an eye guy.

What he means is, do research in whatever interests you- STEM or not it doesnt matter so long as youre committed and interested. Thats better than forced and faked

Research in molecular genetics and twerking are both on the same playing field.

Do research in something you enjoy; bonus if posters/pubs can come from it.
