Is it okay to put personal stuff in the pharmacy dpi container for shredding?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I wouldn't do it. They have to pay for the DPI boxes to be shipped away. They could easily argue that what you are suggesting is a form of theft.

dude just buy a freaking shredder. you bringing sht in and out of the store will prompt a visit from loss-prevention.

Well to be fair I don’t think they were going to bring the shredded documents back home but I agree with your advice.

The chances that anyone will notice or care are slight but why risk anything when shredders are cheap? Tick off the wrong person and before you know it you have lost prevention asking you why you’re using a company resources for personal reasons.

It’s a lot like using the dumpster for personal garbage most of the time no one cares but the wrong person catches you and all of a sudden it’s a crime.

Maybe Sparta can tell us about the time he ran a shredding service out of the pharmacy under the counter?

You can buy a perfectly decent shredder for $20 or so. Also, some local banks hold free shredding days if you look around. It is not worth the risk for something so silly.

Are you guys serious? I practically toss my tissue paper in there after sneezing.

Find a barren spot in your yard and burn them. Buy some scissors and cut them up and mix it with coffee grounds or food. Buy a shredder. Mark out important info with a Sharpie. Seriously there are tons of ways to get rid of documents.

Why don't you have a Shred Party? Have everyone donates a dollar toward your shredder...after hosting a few parties, you will recoup your cost!

LoL and I thought I was cheap

I don’t have a shredder at home. It it okay to bring personal documents to my store and throw them in the dpi box?

No, buy a shredder! You will for sure get the techs talking. Your personal business does not belong in the pharmacy. Just buy a shredder.

I suppose it would depend on how much you are bringing in. A few papers, who would ever notice? Boxes and boxes of documents? Well yeah, that would be a bad idea. Not to mention, using a DPI box, do you trust whoever is taking it out or the truck driver transporting it? Who's to say your techs, the store manager, the truck driver, etc., won't be going through the DPI box for your documents? Sure, if it's just a few papers, they probably won't notice them, but if it's boxes and boxes, well that is an invitation to identity theft.

Then again, as npage mentioned, after equifax, does any of it matter? Might as well just use throw out your papers unshredded with your regular trash at home.
