Hello,

Seeking expert advice. It looks like I will matriculate this summer at OU College of Medicine (I have an acceptance there).

I know that the California programs are really competitive. Here is my question - provided one does well at OU, is it possible to land a residency spot in one of the CA programs? We’re talking here about internal medicine or EM.

Thank you for any input.

Yes it's possible.

Albeit, more difficult than if you went to school in CA as well, but still possible and it does happen.

Why do you want to go to California for residency? Network early. Check your student affairs office about clerkships out where you may want to work if possible.

My wife’s family, they all love there. She is from there.
We moved where we are for my job (tenure-track math prof) but being too far from our family is very difficult in all of us.
